Our Program

Paperback Pals is a book club for children on the autism spectrum with 2nd-grade to 5th-grade reading levels.  In their reading groups, everyone will be given a copy of a book to read. During the meetings, the volunteers will read the book out loud, while the kids will follow along with their own copies of the book. After the chapters assigned for the day are completed, the kids will talk to each other about what they read and what they thought about it. The volunteers will monitor the discussion and end the meeting by helping the kids participate in a cooperative activity. These activities will be fun and different each week. Parents are advised to stay for the classes.
